THE CLIENT

NYDIG

NYDIG is a bitcoin company that’s fusing high tech with institutional-grade finance to usher in a new era of financial products. NYDIG's goal is to make it easy for partners to white label their bitcoin solutions and create their own products like bitcoin accounts, rewards, and loyalty programs. As the first product designer to onboard with NYDIG, my role was to conduct competitive analyses in market segments, wireframe, and strategize product designs for NYDIG's initial offerings.

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Competitive analysis and rapid prototyping to define a product vision and move fast.

NYDIG started ramping up operations in early 2020 with a goal of integrating bitcoin services into traditional bank offerings. To get the ball rolling, my first task was to research different services offerings in the market, give an overview of the market landscape to the C-suite, create a product design strategy and start wireframing concept directions.

THE CHALLENGE

Rapidly concept and prototype bitcoin service options that can be integrated with core bank partners and distributed to financial institutions across the country.

DISCOVERY

When you're moving fast, personas, journey maps, service blueprints, and user flows are even more important guiderails.

When a company is moving fast and growing fast at the same time, data is even more important. The following discovery artifacts provided the guidance we needed to back up our recommendations and keep everyone focused.

> PERSONAS

Persona creation helped the NYDIG team and I zero in on who our clients were and how we should take their needs into consideration.

> CUSTOMER JOURNEY MAPPING

Customer journey maps helped us to identify business opportunities, identify key touchpoints, and develop empathy for the customer at every step of the process.

> SERVICE BLUEPRINT

Service blueprints were created to visualize the relationships between different service components and align with business goals.

> USER FLOWS

Bitcoin buying and selling is a multi-step process that needed to be as simple as possible to give our target customer confidence in the service.

> INFORMATION ARCHITECTURE

Consistent and clear navigation was important to simplify the formerly long processes of signing up for services like bitcoin payroll or buying and selling.

> WIREFRAMES / PROTOTYPE

To move at the client's desired speed, rapid prototyping of the bitcoin service apps was a must. Iterations happen daily when you're in a race to capture market share.

> DESIGN SYSTEM

Once we locked in the design language that NYDIG was happy with, we started to componentize key pieces of the app for reusability down the line.

THE RESULTS

Since my early research, concept, and rapid prototyping rounds with the core team, NYDIG has forged partnerships with major banks and financial institutions, bringing bitcoin services to millions of banking customers across the country.
